PROPOSED PATIO PROJECT UPDATE

Fellow Member,

When last I communicated with you (letter dated 5/20/16), I alerted you to the fact that the Board of Directors (BOD), at our April meeting, had authorized “… funding to draw up construction documents, obtain cost estimates, and put in place plans for a Special Meeting of the Membership…”  I also laid out the fact that, should the measure ultimately gain membership approval via a majority vote, things would have to fall into place in relatively quick fashion for a Fall 2016 – Winter 2017 undertaking.

With that in mind, here is where we now stand.  We intend to have possession of the finalized Construction Documents prepared by James G. Rogers, FAIA by Friday, July 15.  From there we will be releasing said documents to six construction firms for competitive bids.  They, in turn, will have four weeks to pore over the documents and submit final bids by August 15.  Seeing as we will not be in possession of any hard-dollar figures until then, we would deem any speculation of cost to be exactly that.

It is our plan to hold an informational meeting on two separate dates - Saturday, August 20^th at 4pm and Wednesday, August 31^st at 6:30pm.   We hope you can be in attendance.  Jim Rogers (Architect), Craig Smith (Design Consultant), Treasurer Dave Christie, GM Guy D’Ambrosio, and myself will all make brief presentations, discuss costs and financing options, and most importantly, seek member feedback.  It is important to the BOD that the membership has an opportunity to express their views on the proposed project and has the information needed to make an informed decision.

With a desire to allow sufficient time for consideration, while also recognizing the vacation patterns of our families, we will conduct a Special Meeting of the members to vote on the proposed project shortly after Labor Day.  More specificity on the date will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
